There are two entries for Saleby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF4578/saleby/] [accessed 4 August 2019] neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. Lewis' Dictionary of 1848 notes an ancient church but gives no date for it. The entry for this church in Historic England does not mention the earlier church it replaced [Listing NGR: TF4578678762]: "Parish church. 1850 by Stephen Lewin. Restored 1958. [...] All fittings are C19 including the octagonal font, carved in a C15 style. "
