Scene Description: Source caption: "The parish church of St James Spilsby. It was built around the beginning of the 14th. Century in the traditional Spilsby sandstone of the area. However, it has been altered many times. Apart from the tower, it was covered with Ancaster stone in 1879."

The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF4002666089] notes: "Parish church. Founded 1348 as a college of priests by Lord Willoughby. Late C14, early C16, 1879 rebuilding by W. Basset Smith of chancel and addition of south aisle. [...] Fittings all C19 including octagonal font with columnar base." [NB: the basin of the modern font is actually cylindrical].
