There is an entry for Bednall [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SJ9517/bednall/] [accessed 22 July 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History (Stafford, vol. 5, 1959) notes: "A[cton Trussell] and Bednall, formerly two joint townships and chapelries within the ancient parish of Baswich, [...] now form a single civil parish [...] each chapel presumably having all rights of a parish church. [...] The chapel of Acton Trussell was built in the 13th century, presumably as a dependent chapel of Baswich [...] There was a chapel at Bednall by the 12th century. [...] It was presumably included among the dependent chapels of Baswich in 1535 [...] and subsequently had the same institutional history as the chapel of Acton Trussell [...] The former chapel, on or near the same site, appears to have been of 12th-century origin. It consisted of nave and chancel, the nave being slightly higher and wider than the chancel and having a wooden bell turret at its west end. The north doorway had an enriched 12th-century arch with heavy chamfered imposts. Small 12th-century windows survived in both nave and chancel. The remaining windows were insertions of the 17th or 18th century, and the south doorway was dated 1707. The chapel also retained angle buttresses, a 'low side' window, and a priest's door. [...] The present church of ALL SAINTS dates from 1846"; the VCH entry mentions no font in this church. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SJ9549017828] notes: "Chapel-of-ease. 1846. By H. Ward with addition and alterations of 1873. [...] Circular stone font with moulded base and basin with panelled sides and nook shafts; hexagonal stone pulpit with dog-tooth ornament around the top."
