There are two entries for a Twyford [variant spelling] in Middlessex [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ1883/twyford/] [accessed 21 June 2019] neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for West Twyford in the Victoria County History (Middlesex, vol. 7, 1982) notes: "West Twyford church originated as a chapel and suffered many vicissitudes. In 1114 the tithes belonged to the canons of St. Paul's. By 1181 there was a chapel there paying to St. Paul's 12d. a year for tithes, independent of the neighbouring churches, and allowed by the chapter to baptize and bury. [...] The chapel was equipped much like a parish church in 1251 [...] The chapel of ST. MARY, so called c. 1300 and in 1535, [...] stood west of the manor house and was one of the smallest churches in Middlesex, seating c. 40 people. [...] It was rebuilt c. 1712"; no font is mentioned in the VCH entry. The tiny church became the parish church again after the 2010 renovation, while large one that had become the parochial venue in the 1950s became a community hall. The font now [2019] is modern, 17th-century?, of a round moulded baluster design.
