Edmonton / Adelmetone

There is an entry for Edmonton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TQ3392/edmonton/] [accessed 14 June 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this parish in the Victoria County History, (Middlesex, vol. 5, 1976) notes: "Edmonton church is first mentioned between 1136 and 1143, [...] a date consistent with the earliest surviving portions of the fabric [...] The remains of a 12th-century arch and doorway were discovered in the south wall in 1889 and then incorporated into the west wall of a new aisle"; no font mentioned in the VCH entry. All other churches in the civil parish are modern. The entry for this church in Historic England [List Entry Number: 1079548] notes: "C12 in origin, largely rebuilt in the C15 and early C16 (chancel, nave, tower, N aisle, N chapel, N vestry), with some C17 roofs. Exterior clad in brick in 1772, when all the window tracery was removed and replaced in timber. Restored in 1855 by Ewan Christian. Windows redone in stone in 1868. S aisle and SE organ chamber added 1885 by W G Scott. Further refurnishing in the late C19 and C20. [...] Font, dated 1872, in Perpendicular style with quatrefoils on the bowl and a traceried stem."
