The entry for Montsaunès in Joanne's 1885 Pyrénées guide (Paris: Hachette, 1885: p. 185) informs of a 13th-century Romanesque church there with a 14th-century baptismal font in it. The monolithic font is a basin of quasi cylindical shape but with a chanferred underbowl, all plain; one of the upper rim sides is damaged and next to it the side of the font has been trimmed, as if to fit in a tight place or against a wall; crude work; appears o stand directly on the ground inside the room or alcove fashioned as baptistery. [NB: we have no information on the font of the ca.1180(?) church here]
