There is an entry for this Orford [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF2094/orford/] [accessed 13 May 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this house of Premonstratensian nuns in the Victoria County History (Lincoln, vol. 2, 1906) notes: "The priory of Orford or Irford, in Staintonle-Vale, was probably built some time during the reign of Henry II by Ralf d'Albini, in honour of Blessed Mary. [...] A nun of Orford was excommunicated in 1491 by Bishop Redman for breach of her vow of chastity, her partner in crime being a canon of Newhouse. [...] The house was not dissolved, as it might have been, under the first Act of Suppression [...] the surrender was finally made on 8 July, 1539.
