No individual entry found for Newbo in the Domesday survey. The entry for this Premonstratensian abbey in the Victoria County History (Lincoln, vol. 2, 1906) notes: "The abbey of Newbo, between Barrowby and Sedgebrook, was founded by Richard de Malebisse [...] about 1198 in honour of the Assumption of Blessed Mary. [...] In 1401 the monastery was almost depopulated by the results of pestilence and poverty. [...] In 1491 the debt was much reduced, and all was well within the monastery. [...] The abbey was dissolved before Michaelmas, 1536."
