No individual entry for Newstead-on-Ancholme found in the Domesday survey. The entry for this priory in the Victoria County History (Lincoln, vol. 2, 1906) notes: "The Gilbertine priory of Holy Trinity, Newstead-on-Ancholme, was founded for Gilbertine canons by Henry II in 1171. [...] The priory was surrendered on 2 October, 1538, by the prior and five canons". Historic England has an entry for the Newstead Priory Farmhouse [Listing NGR: TA0000404460]: "Farmhouse and adjoining screen wall, incorporating former monastic range of Gilbertine Priory and re-using medieval masonry." [NB: we have no information on the font of the late-12th century church here]
