There are four entries for [North] Ormsby [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF2893/north-ormsby/] [accessed 7 May 2019] none of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for this priory in the Victoria County History (Lincoln, vol. 2, 1906) notes: "The Gilbertine priory of St. Mary, North Ormsby, was founded as a double house between 1148 and 1154 by Gilbert son of Robert of Ormsby, with the consent of his lord, William, earl of Albemarle [...] the number of inmates was limited by St. Gilbert to 100 nuns and lay sisters and 50 canons and lay brothers. [...] After the Black Death Black Death the revenues of the house were greatly diminished. [...] Shortly before the dissolution there were many manuscripts at North Ormsby, though but few printed books [...] The house was surrendered by the prior and five canons on 30 September, 1538". The entry for the site of the North Ormsby Priory in English Heritage [Legacy System number: 22624] notes: "The remains of the Gilbertine priory and deserted settlement at North Ormsby survive as a substantial series of earthworks extending for a distance of over 700m in the valley bottom. [...] The remains of the priory are partly overlain by those of a post-medieval house and associated buildings. [...] On the north side of the nuns' cloister was found evidence for the foundations of the priory church, including the remains of a central wall which divided the nave into two parts longitudinally. [...] Fragments of window tracery of the Decorated style indicate that the original 12th century church was altered or rebuilt in the late 13th or 14th century."
