The Waterstaatskerk history site [https://waterstaatskerk-hengelo.nl/historie-kerken-hoeksteen-ontmoetingskerk/] [accessed 29 April 2019] notes: "Of de Romaanse doopvont in de Ontmoetingskerk, die in 1905 opdook in de tuin van de pastorie van de Grote Kerk/Waterstaatskerk, uit de Kapel van Huis Hengelo afkomstig is, is nog niet aangetoond, maar wel waarschijnlijk. Dit doopvont heeft na de verkoop van de Ontmoetingskerk eveneens een plek gekregen in de Waterstaatskerk." There is uncertainty about the origins of this object that lay disused in the vicarage garden for some time; it then went into the Ontmoetingskerk and, when that was sold, it was moved to the Waterstaatskerk where it now stands.
