The entry for Inventory number: U 1931/2.29 of the collections in the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden describes this object as "doopvont? Nederland middeleeuwen. Stenen bak, Romaanse vorm, mogelijk een klein doopvont. Aanvulling. Finding place: Nederland, onbekend". The has the general shape of a type of medieval font basin; one the worn decorations set at 90-degree angles on the basin outer sides appears to be human, perhaps a warrior. Its measuments, as given in the museum entry, "26 x 25,5 x 15 cm", are more likely to correspond to a holy-water stoup or even a grain measure.
