There is an entry for Humberstone [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TA3105/humberston/] [accessed 17 April 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this abbey in the Victoria County History (Lincoln, vol. 2, 1906) notes: "The abbey of Humberston was founded probably during the reign of Henry II [i.e., 1154-1189] [...] The abbey was regularly visited by the bishops of Lincoln, and seems to have been more than once in an unsatisfactory condition", but a 1519 episcopal visitation found the "buildings of the monastery were in good repair, and there was no debt; all the furniture of the church and altar too was good and sufficient."
Dissolved at the Dissolution. The present Church of St Peter, a re-building of ca. 1710 is near the site of the old abbey grounds.
