There is an entry for Ellel [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SD4856/ellel/] [accessed 3 April 2019] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. The entry for this township in the Victoria County History (Lancaster, vol. 8, 1914) notes: "The origin and dedication of the ancient chapel of Ellel are unknown. It existed before 1156 [...] The chapel, now known as St. John's, was rebuilt in 1804, [...] and a new church was built on an adjacent site in 1907"; no font mentioned. The entry for this church in Historic England (Listing NGR: SD4860155842) mentions no font in it either.
