Font Notes:
There are three entries for [East and West] Allington [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/XX0000/east-and-west-allington/] [accessed 25 January 2019] two of which report a church in each. Allington History [https://allingtononline.co.uk/history/] [accessed 25 January 2019] informs: "For many years the village was separated for ecclesiastical purposes into the parishes of East and West Allington. The parishes were united in 1896 and the Church of St James in East Allington was demolished. The grave-yard is still visible and a cross now stands where the altar once stood. The surviving Holy Trinity Church that dates from the 12th century continues to serve the whole community." [NB: a font from this church was transferred to the newly rebuilt Church of St Michael and All Angels, Waddington, Lincs. The information was provided on replies to BSI queries on 23 and 25 January 2019 from Waddington churchwarden Jo Duffield: "The font did not survive the WW2 bombing [...] the present font [...] came from St James' Church, East Allington (near Grantham, Lincolnshire). The church was 13th century, and had been declared redundant (presumably before 1954, when our new church of St Michael's was consecrated)."]
