Church Notes: present church 16thC replaced a 13thC building
The present font is likely of the time of the re-building of the medieval church in the 16th-17th century; it consists of a hemispherical basin de corated with a torus-scotia at the upper rim, with concave ribbing pattern below and around the underbowl.; raised on a plain cylindrical pedestal base and a moulded circular lower base. No cover present. The entry for this church in the Enciclopedia del romanico... [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/alava_MATAUCO.pdf] [accessed 3 September 2023] notes the remains of the medieval church but mentions no font in it. [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval church here]
