Scene Description: Source caption: "At the end of the 16th century the church was said to be in ruins, and underwent major repairs. The aisles were taken down and nave walls rebuilt in 1776. An extension was built to the north side in 1840, this incorporates a gallery with seating. The chancel was rebuilt in 1904. Internally, the fittings are 19th century or later."

There are seven entries for Scothern [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TF0377/scothern/] [accessed 7 January 2019] one of which reports a priest, a church and church lands in it. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: TF0334977410] notes: "Parish church. c.1200, late C13, c.1590, 1796, 1840, 1876 restoration by Kirke of Sleaford, 1904 rebuilding of chancel and vestry. [...] tower arch c.1200 [...] chancel arch of c.1200, and reset [...] All fittings including font are C19 or later." [NB: we have no information on the font of the ca.1200 church here].
