No individual entry for Pontrefact found in the Domesday survey. Glynne's 1833 visit to this church, (in Butler, 2007) reports: "The font has been restored, and is Perpendicular, octagonal panelled with shields and foliage." Listed in Cox & Harvey (1907) as a baptismal font of the Perpendicular period. The Parish Church St Giles, Pontefract site [http://www.stgilespontefract.org.uk/history/] [accessed 18 October 2018] notes: "The Font is believed to be over 550 years old dating back to late Mediaeval times. Its origin is unknown. [...] In 1902, the font was moved from the east end of the south aisle to its present location." The entry for this church in Historic England [https://historicengland.org.uk/advice/heritage-at-risk/search-register/list-entry/16745] [accessed 18 October 2018] notes: "Medieval and Georgian town church" but mentions no font in it. Ryder (1993) reports here a 15th-century font originally from All Saints'. Harman & Pevsner (2017) mention the 19th-century copy of the medieval font now at St. Giles, and the original 15th-century font itself.
