There are three entries for Darlon [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SE3109/darton/] [accessed 3 October 2018] none of which mentions cleric or church in it. Historic England [Listing NGR: SE3111009914] notes: "The parish of Darton was founded in 1150 and the first church, built on the present site, was by John de Laci, Earl of Lincoln, and Sir John de Sothill." [NB: we have no information on the font of the mid-12th century church here].
