There are three entries for Adwick [le Street] [variant spellings] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SE5408/adwick-le-street/] [accessed 24 September 2018], none of which mentions cleric or church in it. The St Laurence's Church, Adwick-le-Street site [www.adwick-st-laurence.co.uk/history_nave.html] [accessed 24 September 2018] notes: "The font, originally located near the now-blocked north doorway, was moved in 1835 to a central position in front of the tower door. In 1995, it was returned to its original position after removal of two Victorian pews from the aisle". The present font appears modern. The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SE5409808601] dates the church to the 12th century but mentions no font in it. [NB: the church at nearby Woodlands in early-20th century].
