There is an entry for this Sapperton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SO9626/sapperton/] [accessed 18 June 2018] [NB: the entry informs: "No longer exists as a named location, but can be identified on the ground"]; it is described as a medium-size place with 18.4 households; it mentions "1.0 church lands" in it, but not a church, though there must have been one in it. The entry for Bishops Cleeve in the Victoria County History (Gloucester, vol. 8, 1968) notes: "The land called Sapperton, mentioned in 969, 1046, 1086, 1166, and c. 1300, has not been identified but was clearly in Bishop's Cleeve.
