Font Notes:
Baptismal font of bronze made in 1380, consisting of a cauldron-shaped basin raised on three human figures, to which was later added a brick two-step plinth; the basin has three pairs of thin mouldings on the sides; between the top and next pair is a pattern made up of tiny inscribed quatrefoils with crocketed tops; some of those tiny tops may have crosses on them; betwen the next pair of mouldings is a row of human and animal figures inscribed in medalions; the animals are clearly lions but it is difficult to discern details of the human figures; at the bottom, above the heads of the supporting figures, are Greek crosses; [NB: is there an inscription with the date 1380 on the font?]; the figures of the base stand facing outwards, the right hand to support the basin, the left hand down by the side of the body; they appear to be dressed in monk clothes; the two-step brick plinth is modern. The wooden cover above the font is early-17th century and is operated by a pulley system; it is painted and gilded, with painted inscriptions in the panels of the lower part. On the font are a modern baptismal dish and its cover, made in 1924 by Ernst Kahlbrand.
