Baptismal font made of bronze in 1421; it consists of a round tapering basin with an inscription on the outside of the rim, and an arcade of round arches with cinquefoil intrados, a standing figure in each of the arches; the figures hold objects that indicate they are the Apostles, and stand on little moulded paltforms; four standing figures looking outwards and a central pedestal form the base; the figures appear to be female, crowned and carrying a sword, which suggests they may represent the patron saint of this church, St. Catherine; they stand on lion protomes; the central pedestal may be a later addition to reinforce the support; it is now mounted on a square stone plinth or lower base. There is no font cover present but holes in the upper rim suggest they may have been there as anchoring points for the original cover. [cf. BSI entry for Salzwedel No. 2 for the font in Marienkirche]
