The metal font here may have been made as a replacement for an earlier metal font stolen from this church, as reported in Archiv für Staats- und Kirchengeschichte der Herzogthümer [...], Bd. 4 (Altona, 1840): 146: "Nikolans Winterberg, der Enkel, ward 1623 Diakonus zu Heiligenstedten und 1631, nach Andern schon 1629, an seines Vaters Stelle Hauptprediger. Er scheint während des Kaiserlichen Krieges dageblieben zu sein. In demselben wurde die Kirche ihres metallenen Taufbeckens und der Stundenglocke beraubt." It consists of a bucket-shaped basin decorated with at least one small frieze scene of the Crucifixion; inscription in a band just below the upper rim, and others below, on the sides; base consists of a central pedestal stem with mouldings, and four external human figures that appear to be apostles of saints at 90-degree angles; round moulded lower base. [NB: we have not been able to corroborate the presence of this font n the church, as the reference above remains our only source of information on this font at this time].
