Baptismal font of bronze consisting of a bucket-shaped basin raised on four standing human figures; the basin has an inscription in mirrored script below the rim; the middle area of the basin has a set of small figures and scenes all around; the four figures of the base, set at 90-degree angles, do not appear to carry any identifying symbols. Tall hexagonal cover in Baroque style by Jürgen Heitmann, dem Jüngeren, in 1688; it moves with the help of a counterweight system secured to beams in the attic; the original counterweight appears to have been the trumpet angel now seen near the ceiling of the nave. Bertram Schulin's Taufbecken in Deutschland: Form und Ikonographie [https://archiv.ub.uni-heidelberg.de/artdok/6951/1/Schulin_Taufbecken_in_Deutschland_2021.pdf] [accessed 7 November 2022] identifies three German fonts that incorporate a heating system for the water: Marienkirche in Salzwedel, St. Sebald in Nürnberg and St. Jakobus Major in Cuxhaven.
