Baptismal font of bronze said to be ca. 1250 noted and illustrated in Eeinhold Spichal's Waren mittelalterliche Bronzetaufbecken auch verkörperte Raummaße? [www.eichamt.bremen.de/aufgaben/historisches/bronzetaufbecken-1628] [accessed 7 April 2018]; it consists of a tub-shaped basin bearing a running inscription below the rim: "+ ORE TVO CRISTE + BE (ne) DICTUS SIT LOCUS ISTE + AVE MARIA +"; in the middle of the basin are the word HEGO mirrored backwards in a rectangle frame, and a shield charged with the emblem or arms of a bird [a hawk?]; the base consists of four standing figures set at 90-degree angles and looking outwards; they do not look individualised and do not hold any identifying objects; the pattern carved where their heads rest against the basin underbowl looks like a halo. The cover, of copper, is actually a baptismal insert that has its own cover, and is of a much later date than the font itself.
