Church Notes: original church documented 12thC; present church is mid-18thC; listed in Mérimée [ref.: IA00124467]: "Première église mentionnée en 1137 ; nouvel édifice élevé vers 1500, détruit pendant la guerre de Trente Ans par les armées suédoises en 1635 ; l'église est reconstruite vers 1650 ; en 1753 construction d'une tour clocher accolée au mur sud de la nef, par l'architecte tyrolien Joseph Michaël Schnoeller ; en 1765 une nouvelle construction est entreprise avec l'accord du décimateur le grand chapitre de la cathédrale de Strasbourg ; la tour de 1753 est maintenue mais se trouve accolée au mur sud du choeur, l'édifice actuel étant place perpendiculairement au précédent ; l'édifice porte la date 1767 au-dessus du portail antérieur et la date 1768 à droite de l'arc triomphal ; il est béni en 1768 et consacré en 1773"

Two baptismal fonts are found in this church and listed in Palissy: 1)late-18th century font [ref.: IM67006609]; 2)baptismal font of 1654 [ref.: IM67006608]: "Fonts baptismaux [grès] datés de 1654, provenant de l'édifice antérieur [...] hexagonal [...] mauvais état [...] ils avaient été placés à l'extérieur de l'église pendant un certain temps puis mis à l'abri dans l'église. Couvercle en cuivre moderne". The font consists of a hexagonal basin decorated with a ribbed pattern below a moulded upper rim; modern water tap drilled into the underbowl to drain the water; '1654' date carved on the upper rim and painted black; foliage motifs climb up from the underbowl; on a hexagonal pedestal base with thick baluster-like scroll sides; very eroded [cf. supra]. Domed copper cover with addtional low dome on top and Latin-cross finial; modern. Also listed in Palissy [ref.: IM67006610] are two stone holy-water stoups of the 18th century.
