Elle fut dédiée en premier lieu à sainte Barbe qui fut plus tard associée à sainte Marie-Madeleine. Avec la Réforme (introduite en 1570 par Philippe IV) l'église passa aux protestants (luthériens). Le simultaneum fut introduit en 1682 et supprimé en 1893 [...] La partie la plus ancienne de l'église correspond aux deux niveaux inférieurs du clocher, ancienne tour-choeur, dont la construction se situe au 12e siècle [...] En 1959 la nef fut à nouveau ouverte sur l'ancien choeur roman qui fut aménagé en chapelle baptismale".

A baptismal font here is included in the Inventaire général du patrimoine culturel under the heading 'parties non étudiées' in the 'Mobilier et monuments d'intérêt secondaire' in Palissy [ref.: IM67014170], but it may refer to the one moved to the Catholic church of Saint-Madeleine. The entry for this church in Petit-Patrimoine [www.petit-patrimoine.com/fiche-petit-patrimoine.php?id_pp=67222_2] [accessed 17 February 2018] informs: "Dans la nef a été installée une cuve baptismale découverte en 1959 dans la forêt du Seelberg et provenant probablement du prieuré de Seelhofen." [NB: Seelhofen [aka Selhof, Selehoven] was a site "éloignée d'une demi-lieue d'Ingweiller", a chapel [-of-ease?] tothe church at Ingwiller; it had originally been "un prieuré de l'ordre de Citeaux, dépendant de l'abbaye de Neubourg", and was documented by 1180 -- source: Philippe Andre Grandidier's Œuvres historiques inédites (Colmar, 1867), vol. 6: 308-309]
