There are two entries for this Alford [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/TF4576/alford/] [accessed 31 January 2018], neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. The entry for this church in British Listed Buildings [Listing NGR: TF4554876066All] notes: "fittings and font are C19 apart from the rood screen and pulpit". It is an octagonal basin raised on a marble base, and was introduced in Sir Gilbert Scott's mid-19th century restoration of this church. [NB: we have no information on the font of the mid-14th century church here].
