Chalice-shaped font of the 15th century decorated with scenes from the Vita Christi cycle. The printed church guide written by Frieder Schütz (Berlin, 1990) describes this as a late-15th century Gothic baptismal font made of sandstone from Baumberg, and notes two scenes related to the 6th January (Epiphany): the Baptism of Christ in the presence of John the Baptist and an angel, and the Three Magi; Schütz further notes that the 6th January was a common baptism day in Gaul (? = "in Gallien"), preceded by a long term of preparation for baptism, a time later known as Advent. The font consists of an octagonal basin, the sides decorated between two parallel sets of mouldings; some sides are ornamented with Gothic tracery, quatrefoiled panels made up of trefoil parts, etc.; one of the basin sides shows three male figures dressed in rich garments and carrying objects; the figures are in a full frontal pose; there is deeply carved vine all around on the upper side of the underbowl; the basin is raised on a pedestal base also of octagonal shape, with deeply carved niches framed in Ogee arches with crocketed tops; there are pinnacle buttresses at the angles; the inside of the niches has trefoiled arches, with grading below; the lower base is also octagonal and moulded; the lower end of the font is well below the present ground level of the church but there is visual access to it. The wooden cover on the font, oftagonal and flat, is modern.
