An article by Oscar Corral in El Pais [https://elpais.com/cultura/2017/11/07/actualidad/1510073164_000640.html] [accessed 7 November 2017] informs that ca. 1960, Carmen Polo, wife of the then Generalisimo of Spain, turned up at this church and ordered the then parish priest, José Barrientos, to surrender "dos pilones medievales de gran valor que adornaban el patio de la casa rectoral. Uno era estriado y destinado en otros tiempos a servir de pila bautismal para los nacidos en esta histórica aldea; el otro, liso y reservado para embalsar en su seno agua bendita" [i.e., a medieval font decorated with striated pattern and holy-water stoup that were used at the time as decorative objects in the rectory] for her to use as garden ornaments in her mansion [Pazo de Meirás]. The mansion is now [November 2017] under the control of the Fundacion Franco, which restricts access to the site, but challenged by some of the local council authorities. We have been unable to find any recent information on the state or whereabouts of the missing font and stoup of Moraime. [NB: BSI received a photograph in June 2019 of a stone font from te church of this former monastery; it consists of a large hemispherical basin decorated with a single flat moulding all around, raised on a squat round pedestal base. No cover present].
