On-site notes: baptismal font of stone consisting of two pieces, basin and base, both octagonal; the base is a relatively modern replacement; the basin is octagonal and deeply carved; four of the sides have a single seated figure, male, bearded, holding either a book or a scroll (one holds and open book; another holds a closed book; the other two hold scrolls); the seated bearded figures are probably prophets but none has an identifying symbol; the other four sides have two scenes from the Life of Christ cycle; the Baptism of Christ in the Jordan scene occupies two sides; Christ on the left with the Jordan waters in the classical representation around his lower body; the Baptist on the right, dressed in animal skins, his right hand raised towards Christ's head; an avian meant to represent the Holy Ghost, flies towards the right above Christ's head; the figures are not haloed; the other two sides of the octagonal basin are occupied by the Annunciation to Mary; Mary seated to the left raises a left hand towards Gabriel, standing on the right. No font cover present. There are markings on the ground towards the east end of the north aisle that suggest the location of the font there, but the shape of the markings is very different from that of the present base of the font.
