The present font is of wood; it is noted and illustrated by Pentti Zetterberg, in the Laboratory of Dendrochronology, University of Joensuu [http://forest.uef.fi/penttizetterberg/kohteet.esineet.html] [accessed 31 August 2017]: "Tammelan kirkon puisen kastealtaan jalustan iänmääritys, dendrokronologinen ajoitus FIH2401. Dendrokronologian laboratorio, ajoitusseloste 256:1-5" [NB: the source does not provide a dating for the font]. The entry for this church in Discovering Finland, Tammelan Harmaakivikirkko [www.discoveringfinland.com/fi/destination/tammelan-harmaakivikirkko/] [accessed 29 August 2017] notes: "Esillä on myös puinen kasteallas, joka on ehkä saatu lahjoituksena kirkon valmistumisen yhteydessä." The font is probably monolithic and made of pine wood; it consists of a plain, roughly hemispherical basin that has been reinforced with a broad brace of metal on the outside; the basin is lined with a metal [copper?] insert that covers also the upper rim; the pedestal base has a thick centre ring moulding, the splaying lower base carved with flat ribs. No cover present.
