Listed as a 12th-century stone font in Palissy [ref.: PM70000271]. There is an additional entry for the 12th-century font in Palissy [ref.: PM70000265], an octagonal font, which must refer to this same font. At the time of the photograph in Mémoire [ref.: MHR43_00702355ZA], taken by M/ Jeunier in 1990, the octagonal did nor have the round pedestal base on which it is now raised; the sides of the basin are seprated at the corners by thick torsade columns; the choice of motifs on the sides is rather baffling; there are shield-like shapes on one side, Greek croses inscribed in circles on another, while another side appears to have a worm-shaped 'thing' above three rows of scallop-shaped cells, and so on; the underbowl has a row of saw-tooth all around, and there is a rope moulding below; the round pedestal base is modern. The uppe rim of the basin has at least one metal staple in it, and there is obvious damage to most of the upper rim; a modern frame of wood appears to be in place to support an octagonal lid.
