Church Notes: the mid-18thC church was destroyed in WWII; new church of 1961 -- present church listed in Mérimée [ref.: IA00118974]: "De l'ancienne église paroissiale Sainte-Agathe, érigée entre 1758 et 1761 et détruite pendant la seconde guerre mondiale il ne reste qu'une partie du clocher, l'église actuelle fut construite par l'architecte Roger Pillon en 1961".
Font Notes:
Palissy [ref.: IM67007264] lists a former font re-used as well head: "La cuve baptismale qui sert actuellement de margelle au puits, est de style roman et peut être datée du 12e siècle ; elle provient peut-être de l'église primitive et n'a pas été réutilisée dans l'église reconstruite dans le 3e quart du 18e siècle [...] Cuve de plan circulaire [...] en grès rose, d'élévation légèrement galbée [...] ornementation (arcature) [...] 12e siècle (?)". According to the entry in the Communauté de paroisses catholiques de Soultz-sous-Forêts [www.paroisse-ssf.com/] [accessed 18 August 2017] the present font in Saint-Agathe's was made in the Ateliers Jaeg-Valentin of Strasbourg-Neudorf.
