Font Notes:
The village web site [http://schnersheim.village.free.fr/patrimoine/schnersheim/schners_patrimoine.html] [accessed 18 August 2017] reports a a font probably from the old 12th-century church here, now in a private residence. Listed in Palissy [ref.: IM67010083] as the fragment of a stone font decorated with six crosses, found digging in the front area of a private property at 2 impasse Saint-Etienne, where it is believed to have served as well-head, though originally as baptismal font of the medieval church here: "Provenant vraisemblablement de la première église de Schnersheim, ce fragment des fonts baptismaux date du 12e siècle. [NB: the Palissy entry (ibid.) gives the measurements as "dimensions h = 30 ; d = 320", but it is unlikely that the diameter of the basin was over 3 m.; perhaps it was meant to be the circumference, which would give a more plausible diameter of around 1 m.]
