Fragment of a baptismal of the late-15th century attributed to Maître Ulrich and kept in the museum at Haguenau is noted in 'Cuves baptismales et fonts baptismaux : évolution formelle avant le XVIe siècle' [www.culture.gouv.fr/documentation/memoire/CATALOGUES/fontsbapt/fontsbapt_histav16e/html/fontsbapt_histav16e.html] [accessed 13 August 2017]: "deux fonts baptismaux sont attribués à des auteurs précis : ceux, réalisés en 1470-1471 par Maître Ulrich, tailleur de pierre de la ville de Haguenau, conservés au musée historique d'Haguenau (67) et ceux de la cathédrale de Strasbourg (1453) attribués à J. Dotzinger". Listed in Palissy [ref.: IM67002423]: "Grès (rose) : taillé (décor en bas-relief) [...] Bord plat ; fonts posés sur un socle circulaire moderne en bois. Coups du marteau du tailleur de pierre visibles à l'intérieur [...] Description : seize saints et (ou) prophètes en relief, chacun dans une niche gothique [...] Base, couvercle et morceaux du bords manquant ; figures sculptées sur l'extérieur très endommagées et usées [...] 4e quart 14e siècle (?)" The remaining fragment of the basin shows a deeply-carved arcade of pointed arches housing figures; some of the figures appear to be in pairs, suggesting scenes; part of the upper rim and side are broken off, but one side still shows a square-cut notch that would be typical of an anchoring spot for an old cover. Given the damage to the upper end of the basin it is unclear whether the font was originally round or polygonal, though most likely the latter.
