This black veined marble baptismal font at Opoul may be a composite obeject put together in the 17th century; listed in Palissy [ref.: IM66000155]: "fonts baptismaux [en] Marbre de Baixas [...] Les feuilles sont alternativement grandes et petites : elles sont plates, lancéolées [...] Difficilement datable, cette cuve baptismale dont le décor est dans la tradition romane a une forme polygonale, travail postérieur au 12e siècle ; peut-être s'agit-il d'un ouvrage composite du 17e siècle ; le socle de galet est d'époque moderne." A damaged font in this commune appears in the web entry page Inventaire du patrimoine de Opoul-Périllos 66600 - C.F.P.P.H.R. [http://gerval2.free.fr/opoulperillos.htm] [accessed 7 August 2017]; it does not correspond at all to the description in Palissy; its round basin shows considerable, repairs and parts still missing from the upper side.
