view of church exterior - west portal - detail

Scene Description: the source caption describes the motif as "cordon de fleurs de violette"; it looks like a fancy version of the tradional dog-tooth motif with an added beaded-tape pattern on it

Font Notes:
The entry for this church in the French Wikipedia [https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Église_Saint-Remy_de_Roberval] [accessed 17 October 2025] describes and illustrates both the baptismal font and a holy-water stoup here: "Les fonts baptismaux se présentent sous la forme d'une cuve baptismale à infusion, d'un style gothique flamboyant rustique. Ils sont taillés dans un bloc de pierre calcaire monolithique, de plan octogonal. La cuve repose directement sur le court socle. Sa bordure est moulurée, mais le décor sculpté est totalement absent [...] Le bénitier est une petite vasque ovale reposant sur un pied galbé, et affiche un style Renaissance également assez rustique. Une frise sous la forme de petites arcatures plaquées en plein cintre va tout autour de la vasque. Elles ne sont pas tout à fait régulières. La bordure prend la forme d'un gros tore."
This font is not mentioned in the entry for Roberval in the Eglises de l'Oise site [www.eglisesdeloise.com/monument/roberval-eglise-saint-remi/] [accessed 27 June 2017]. [NB: unable to locate a listing for the font in Palissy -- last checked 27 June 2017]. The monolithic font is octagonal with tapering sides, moulded at the upper end but otherwise plain. The flat wooden cover is fitted in a groove in the rim of the inner basin; the two leaves are hinged on their outer sides; the cover appears modern. The holy-water stoup is illustrated in a Wikimedia digital photograph taken 10 July 2015 by Pierre Poschadel [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Roberval_(60),_église_Saint-Remy,_nef,_bénitier.JPG] [accessed 17 October 2025]: "Roberval (60), église Saint-Remy, nef, bénitier"; it consists of an oval basin decorated with a pronounced roll moulding at the upper rim, a blind arcade of round arches on the sides and a thin moulding marking the top of the underbowl; on a plain pedestal base. It is a rather crude work showing signs of damage to several parts; it is probably of a later date, perhaps of the time of one of the modifications of the church (14th-16th century).
