Font Notes:
The present font consists of a roughly hemispherical basin that is plain except for a single groove or scotia below the upper rim; raised on a round spaling pedestal base; both basin and base are made of jasper (?). No cover present. The material of the font is described in Kullberg, Coelho & Prego's "Geological and Cultural Routes of the Arrabida Breccia", STRATI 2013 (2017: 307) as 'Arrábida marble' or 'Arrábida Breccia', a type of jasper (?) [aka "mármore da Arrábida"]. The font may date as late as the 1721 restoration. [NB: we have no information on the font of the ca. 1165 church here].
