Baptismal font in this church noted in SIPA [IPA.00002936] [www.monumentos.pt/Site/APP_PagesUser/SIPA.aspx?id=2936] [accessed 24 May 2017]: "baptistério adossado, constituindo capela, com acesso por vão de volta perfeita, onde se insere pia baptismal profusamente decorada com motivo axadrezxado [...] pia baptismal, de cantaria, assente em pilar facetado, encimado por friso cordiforme e taça hemisférica com decoração em xadrez." The SIPA entry above mentions also several holy-water stoups in this church, one, "pia de água benta bastante tosca, em granito", and two others built into "duas colunas toscanas, assentes em plintos paralelepipédicos, integrando as pias de água benta, hemisféricas". The font consists of a round tapering basin decorated with chequered pattern on about 3/4 of its surface below a roll moulding at the upper rim; it is raised on a round pedestal base; a much worn acanthus (?) vine decorates the broad moulding at the top of the round pedestal base [NB: this vine is mistakingly referred to in the SIPA description above as "cordiforme"]; one of the squares of the chequered pattern bears the initials PJ, whether a maker's mark or a later grafitto; another of the square, below and to the left, has some unreadable mark in it. No font cover present, but a repair patch covers the notch cut out to fit the lock of a former font cover.
