Scene Description: Source caption: "Avec son clocher-tour haut de 26 mètres, l’église devait faire partie du système défensif du château forteresse dont elle était voisine. Dotée, à la fin du moyen âge, de deux chapelles couvertes de voûtes à nervures prismatiques ornées d’armoiries, elle fut occupée par les protestants qui l’incendièrent. A nouveau ruinée sous la Révolution, elle ne fut restaurée qu’en 1818. Après les dommages causés par la dernière guerre, l’église fit l’objet de travaux et d’embellissements pendant toute la seconde moitié du XXe siècle."

There are two objects of our interest in this church: a baptismal font consisting of a round stone with large window-like panels cut out of the sides, a modern cylindrical pedestal base of multiple stones and a circular lower base also modern; topped with a modern metal domed cover with an orb-and-cross. There is a holy-water stoup in the north column of the west entranceway; date unknown. [NB: not known whether the 14th-century (?) chapel at nearby Saillant [formerly Orbaciac], listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00099959], had originally baptismal rights and therefore a font].
