Church Notes: the castle is listed and illustrated in Mérimée [ref.: PA00099965]: "Château caractéristique du début du 17e siècle [...] 1ère moitié"
The basin of a baptismal font is listed and illustrated in Palissy [ref.: IM19000845]: "fonts baptismaux (cuve des fonts baptismaux) [...] granite [...] ornementation (ornement à forme géométrique) [...] Deux côtés opposés aux deux autres côtés." The original August 1978 entry by Martine Chavent for the inventory [Palissy IM19000845] dates this font to possibly the 13th century and notes that its [then] present location in the park of the castle is the only one in memory [NB: the 1994 updated entry in Palissy, however, states: "Provient sans doute de l'église de Tarnac"]; the font is described as a square basin decorated with Romanesque arches on two sides, and a lozenge pattern on the other two; it has a drain hole in one side, and it is raised on an octagonal base; no cover present [NB: if the dating of the font is correct it cannot have belonged to the castle, which is a 17th-century building and there is no record of an earlier one there -- although the arcade of blind round arches looks medieval the shape of the font and the added ornamentation on the other two sides may raise doubts about the date assigned above].
