Source caption: "La fondation de l’église remonte à une époque reculée car elle est mentionnée en 861 comme don fait à l’abbaye de Beaulieu, alors en construction [...] Au XVe siècle fut édifié un clocher à hourds, l’un des trois du Bas-Limousin. Il a dû servir de refuge aux habitants, notamment lorsque le bourg fut assiégé par les huguenots, en 1585. [...] Un transept fut créé par l’adjonction de deux chapelles ; on ouvrit, en 1820, la porte du sud-est, et la façade fut refaite en 1837."
