Described in García Guinea (1996): "En su día hubo de tener iglesia románica, pues aun conserva la pila bautismal de este estilo. Con veintiun gallones exteriores, resaltados, e interiores cóncavos, del tipo de la de Santoña. En su cara externa están recorridos por un sogueado de dos cabos que va encerrando medias esferillas horadadas, a modo de fusayolas. Decoración muy semejante a la banda de cuerda que recorre la pila santoñesa, lo que nos acercaría a los últimos años del siglo XII o primeros del XIII ". Listed and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico [https://www.romanicodigital.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/files/cantabria_HOZNAYO.pdf] [accessed 14 May 2025]: "pila bautismal que, a la izquierda del presbiterio interior, nos asegura su cronología del siglo XII . Se trata de una gran cuba (diámetro de 1,10 m; alto, 54 cm; borde, 14 cm; diámetro interior, 92,5 cm; profundidad de la cuba, 41,5 cm) semiesférica, que se adorna con veintidós gallones en relieve cerca de la embocadura. A toda la pila rodea un entrelazo de doble cuerda que va dejando en el interior de cada nódulo, una media esferilla con un centro excavado, a modo de fusayola. El interior se cubre, muy limpiamente, de arcadura avenerada. Ciertamente que esta pila de Hoznayo, forma, por su tamaño y apariencia, grupo destacado con las de Santillana, Bareyo y Santa María de Puerto."
