Scene Description: Source caption: "Lavabo de l'église de Sainte-Marie-Lapanouze (Corrèze, France)" -- object listed in Palissy [ref.: PM19001053]: "Ce lavabo d'église [granite] du 13e siècle a été dégagé par l'abbé Perrinet d'un renforcement ancien du mur sud de la nef comblé postérieurement (au 17e ou au 18e siècle) [...] Fut rectangulaire vertical, dont la partie postérieure est plane, et la partie supérieure évasée et évidée. Les parois intérieures de l'évidement sont parfaitement verticales. Trou d'évacuation."

Church Notes: church originally 12thC, much modified later -- listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00099865]: "Ce petit sanctuaire, construit en granit, se compose d'une nef à deux travées voûtées d'ogives, d'époque gothique, d'un choeur voûté en berceau, et d'une abside en cul-de-four d'époque romane. Deux chapelles latérales flanquent le choeur. Le couronnement du clocher n'est pas antérieur au 19e siècle."
A granite holy-water stoup of the 14th century here is listed and illustrated in Palissy [ref.: PM19000378]: "bénitier [...] granite [...] La cuve circulaire est prolongée par un fût cylindrique terminé par une base octogonale [...] 14e siècle [...] oeuvre restaurée". The stoup appears to be monolithic, with well-defined round basin, plain round pedestal base and moulded octagonal lower base; there is a broad flat moulding at the rim of the basin, and a series of varied leaves stemming from the ring moulding on the underbowl. The Palissy entry informs that the stoup was restored by Brigitte Estève (Loches, 37) in October 2009. [NB: we have no information on the font of the 12th-century church here].
