The earliest reference we found to a baptismal font here appears in Déribier Du Châtelet's Dictionnaire statistique du département du Cantal, 1856, vol. 4 , p. 160, as "dignes d'attention". Paul Joanne's guide to Auvergne et Centre (Paris, 1886) entry for this village (p. 128) notes: "fonts baptismaux et lutrin décorés de sculptures remarquables" in its church, expanding on what had already been noted in the Laurent Joanne's Dictionnaire géographique, administratif, postal, statistique, archéologique [...] (Paris, 1869). Pierre Moulier's biography of bishop Frédéric de Marguerye (Cantal, 2008) mentions an episcopal visit to the church here on 29 April 1841 recommends that the baptismal font be moved to the back of the church. [NB: we have no further information on the medieval font here].
