Church Notes: place named after the 12thC Cluny monastery here -- listed and illustrated in Mérimée [ref.: PA00099812]: "L'église fut rebatie en 1494. L'édifice actuel résulte de la reconstruction d'une église du 12e dont subsistent, à l'extérieur, la corniche du chevet et, à l'intérieur, les colonnes de l'arc triomphal avec leurs chapiteaux, ainsi que deux baies sur la façade sud. La façade occidentale a été restaurée en 1786."

Luc de Goustine, of the Association Saint-Pierre du Moustier-Ventadour, writes in his 30 November 2003 description of this church [www.ventadour.net/cariboost_files/EgliseStPierre.pdf] [accessed 26 February 2017] does not mention a font in it. A listing in the Palissy [ref.: IM19000594] entry covers two objects under the heading "Fonts baptismaux": a "niche cintrée creusée dans le mur de la chapelle" and a "cuve demi-circulaire, prise dans le mur de la chapelle" which is half-built into the north wall as well as resting on a round pedestal base; thsi latter object would not be the font, as the font itself would be understood to be in the excavated niche behind the wooden door decorated with a carved cross and a painted legend "Font Bapt" on its front; the above Palissy listing dates the wooden door as early-20th century, and the niche itself and standing vessel as "anciens".
