Church Notes: original (?) 12thC church listed and illustrated in Mérimée [ref.: IA00066899]: "L'église a subi de nombreux remaniements, portail occidental du 12e ou du 13e siècle [...]"
The 1987 "sommaire objets mobiliers [...] liste supplementaire" of the Inventaire général [Palissy ref.: IM19000034] includes a baptismal font "cuve granite" together with the wooden structure which it dates to the 19th century [presumably the woodwork, but no separate date is assigned to the font]; in the plan of the church interior the font is shown at the northeast end of the nave. The baptismal font, which is set against a corner [cf. supra] appears to be a plain monolithic basin of octagonal shape, slightly tapering towards the base; one of the visible sides shows damage at the upper rim, a large chunk of the stone missing, the type of damage consistent with old cover hardware. The present cover is the "boiserie" referred to in the Palissy entry above, an octagonal rim-buffet style cover with a finial of a Latin cross on four vertical scroll ribs. The font itself is probably much older than the present cover. [NB: the notes above are based on the Palissy report and image; a more current photograph [date not available in the metadata of the image] shows a font that appears to be the same as the one shown in 1987 photograph, but place now at the west end of the nave, cemented to the north wall; the wooden cover is no longer on it].
