Church Notes: church built ca. 1130 on the site of a former Benedictine priory; expanded 15th and 19thC; only the apse and chancel remain of the 12thC church
[NB: we have no information on the font of the original ca. 1130 church here]. There is an old holy-water stoup here consisting of an octagonal basin with a narrow base, mounted on another stone that appears unrelated to it; date unknown. Palissy [ref.: PM19000069] lists a pair of identical hollowed plaster capitals of the 19th century are placed as if for use as stoups or fonts inside the church [NB: not knwon whether ever used as such]: "Les deux chapiteaux en plâtre moulé sont creux, l'extérieur est recouvert d'un badigeon grisâtre ; des plateaux de bois rapportés recouvrent leur sommet [...] les chapiteaux sont décorés sur leurs quatre faces d'entrelacs et de feuillages, ils sont parfaitement identiques [...] 19e siècle".
